Black & Red

Style Tips For Spring

Black and red, a colour combination so undeniably vintage you can recognise it a mile off. We're delighted to be showcasing so many black and red combinations this season, so much so we've put together this little lookbook to admire them all!

First up are our two most beautiful lingerie sets, Lulu Noir and Ziegfeld. Lulu Noir, pictured here on the gorgeous Lady Eccentrik, is inspired in part by vintage lingerie brand Warner, whose red accents on the detailing of their lingerie became iconic in the 1950s.

In homage to them, lacy Lulu features tiny red bows and a sultry red waist tape on the inside of our Merry Widow body.

The Lulu Noir set comes in several different styles, enabling you to mix-and-match to achieve your perfect foundations for a vintage silhouette. Choose from our classic Bullet Bra pattern, with either a Suspender Belt or a beautiful satin and lace Girdle. For evening wear or under strapless dresses, try the Lulu Noir Merry Widow, a cinching, supportive basque designed to nip in your waist and boost your bust.

A word on our gorgeous stockings: Wilhelmina Af Fera and Jessabelle Thunder, pictured here in all three styles of the Lulu Lingerie, also wear the Contrast Black/Red Glamour Seamed Stockings, a style we particularly love for changeable weather. You can also get these stockings in plain Black 15 or 40 Denier versions for when its cool, or in warm temperatures opt for the Champagne/Red, Champagne/Black, Nutmeg/Claret or Nutmeg/Black versions.

Our Ziegfeld Lingerie is inspired by the dramatic shapes and styles of the Art Deco movement.

Fashion in the 1920s and 1930s took inspiration from Art Deco's bold geometric shapes, often involving stars and zig-zags.One of the most iconic Deco fashion looks actually comes from the 1941 movie Ziegfeld Girls, where Hedy Lamarr wears an amazing star headdress. This beautiful set in black net and red incorporates star designs which echo Hedy's outfit.

We've created a Suspender Waspie specifically for this set, meaning you can cinch your waist and hold up your stockings all at once.

How To Style It

We teamed up with amazing hand-made dress company Chotronette to style this gorgeous black and red sequence. Wilhelmina Af Fera wears our Glamour Nouveau Merry Widow, Maitresse Knickers and Red Glamour Seamed Stockings, accessorised with vintage jewellery and shoes and a pair of our Long Red Satin Gloves.
