One Vintage Dress 6 Ways

This week I've been inspired by @bestdressed on Youtube who does styling videos on how to style outfits in different ways. The background for this came from two sources: the first is in response to why we don't sell navy blue contrast seamed stockings which I addressed in an earlier video. The second comes from the idea of thriftiness both today and in the past.

Many years ago I remember a friend of mine; Fleur de Guerre; talking about a vintage magazine article she discovered which told you how to style your dress 7 different ways while on a cycling holiday so you'd only need to take one dress. She remarked that no doubt you'd be pretty stinky at the end of it as only one shower was scheduled in!

Today airlines are cracking down on the amount of luggage you can take and a I know a lot of you go to vintage car events (limited boot space - having gone camping for the weekend many years ago in a Model A Ford with husband and dog I feel for you!) hopefully you'll find the video below of interest.

Certainly I found this experiment opened my mind to wearing my existing dresses in different ways. Wearing a blouse under a dress like this isn't something I'd normally do but I loved the look and as you can see wore it to a Concours d'Elegance in London.

The navy and mustard combination turned out to be my favourite. They're two colours I never would have dreamed of putting together but I've teamed them together several times now, even putting together a vintage tennis look by combining the House of Foxy mustard blouse with their navy blue 1930s shorts.
