Spring is upon us once again, and as we cross our fingers for warmer weather it's time to look at ways to achieve that teeny tiny vintage waist new-season outfits (with a little help from our gorgeous model Frenchie L'amour!)
For this look, our essential piece of shapewear is our Glamour Waist Cincher. Inspired by the beautiful boned waspies of Dior's New Look, this cincher is made from super-strechy powermesh and steel boning, and constructed with a reinforced waist tape to nip in your figure. It's an invaluable piece for both Summer and Winter looks, but really comes into its own underneath circle skirts and separates.
We've paired our Waist Cincher here with our Harlow Bullet Bra for a simple, comfortable vintage-style finish. Our Peach satin lingerie is just the thing for summer; all peach pieces are mix-and-match, with the added bonus that they don't show up under pale clothing. You'll also notice that the suspender straps on this Cincher are incorporated in the design, so you don't have to layer a suspender belt over the top!
As you can see here, our Waist Cincher is incredibly flexible! The powermesh in the cincher moulds to your shape while it's on you, ensuring a smooth finish, with no lumps, bumps or restrictions of movement. The spiral steel boning (and all our shapewear is made using real spiral steel bones) makes sure that this piece really pulls you in and supports you, without squishing everything out the bottom or over the top.
The flexibility of the Waist Cincher also makes it an ideal piece for under dresses for parties over the next few months - particularly if you plan on lots of dancing! However, if you have a shorter torso, are more petite or prefer a shorter cincher, you might also want to take a look at our Glamour Nouveau Waspie - a shorter version of this cincher with lightweight boning.
Now to the outfit! To keep the emphasis on the waist, we chose this beautiful skirt and top from Bernie Dexter. Mixing up prints is a cute and kitsch way of livening up an outfit, but if you want to keep the lines clean, break your patterns up with a block colour. Here, we've used a beautiful red Obi Belt from The Japanese Shop and tied it in an oversized bow. Wrap belts are also a good way of hiding any little lines you may get from your boning.
We've chosen red, white and black as our theme for this outfit. Monochrome patterns are an excellent choice for changeable spring weather - dress down a dark coloured cardigan and opaque stockings for those rainy days, or team with halterneck, sleeveless or strappy tops for summery fun!
As we're coming up to Dapper Day, we've chosen the accessories of this look with a bit of a theme! Team our Red Glamour Seamed Stockings with a pair of Miss L Fire shoes for cute vintage style. Glamorous but practical, Miss L Fire make shoes you really can dance the night away in! These pretty Bow Necklace and Earrings are by Classic Hardware a few seasons ago (although you should be able to find something similar) and we particularly loved how the necklace echoed the bow of the belt.
And finally, who could forget this gorgeous hat from Pearls & Swine? Designed by British designer Bink Neptune who specialises in all things quirky, we rather love how this piece tops off the whole outfit and brings it all together!
